Two nights before the 2016 Iditarod, snow was brought in by train and by truck to ready the streets of Anchorage, Alaska for the 'Last Great Race on Earth.' Dave and I were there, on 4th Street, as the trucks brought load after load, dumping and then spreading the snow in preparation for the ceremonial start. The following morning at 10 AM, eighty-five mushers and their teams of elite canine athletes would carry patrons (the highest bidders) along on the three mile course through downtown Anchorage. Wait for the boom at the end- made me jump every time!
