These days, trying to be a good Dad, keeping Debbie Ray happy, taking care of my own Dad and waking up at 4 am, sometimes my health has to take a backseat.  I'm sure many of you reading this feel the same way. Try these metabolism boosters, from Men’s Health magazine.  Some of them will surprise you!  Like this one- don’t diet.  Sure, a healthy diet is necessary for weight loss, but you should keep yourself satisfied with nutritious foods so you don’t binge on unhealthy snacks full of empty calories.  Plus, starving yourself will cause your metabolism to slump.  While you’re at it, load up on protein, vitamin D, iron, fiber and calcium, and eat organic food whenever possible (pesticides may make it harder to lose weight).   Get your beauty rest, because studies have shown that people who get more sleep are less likely to be overweight.  Fire up your metabolism with chilies- the same thing that gives them their spicy kick can help you burn up calories.  Then cool down with cold water, which has also been found to boost metabolism.  Get moving during the day- sitting down for four hours or more causes the body to shut down and stop burning fat.  By the way, this is good advice for both men and women.
