Need to do a little Spring cleaning and get rid of some unwanted household items?

On Saturday, April 17, you're being given the perfect opportunity to safely get rid of items that aren't typically picked up curbside or can't fit into a cart as Lafayette Consolidated Government and Republic Services hosts its Debris & Electronics Drop-off Day on Saturday, April 17 from 8 AM until Noon at Cajun Field.

Specialty Companies Participating in Collections

Electronic recycling management company MRM and television manufacturer TCL will both be on-site collecting TVs and other electronics.

Also, the nonprofit Bike Lafayette will be collecting old bikes to rebuild them. These repaired bikes will be donated to children and adults in need.

Who Can Drop Off Items?

This event is only for households within Lafayette Parish. Workers will be checking driver's licenses. You need to be prepared to help unload any item you bring, except electronics.

What Items Won't Be Accepted?

  • Waste from businesses will not be accepted.
  • Automotive fluids (coolant, oil, wiper fluids, power steering fluids, etc)
  • Household chemicals (bleach, cleaning products, and more)
  • Compressed gas cylinders (propane tanks, helium tanks)
  • Medical waste
  • Ammunition
  • Explosives
  • Gas-powered equipment (lawn mowers, tillers, trimmers, chainsaws, etc)

What Items Will Be Accepted?

  • Old tires, wood and metal, furniture, appliances, carpet and padding, and other construction debris. There is a limit of five tires per person.
  • Smaller waste, such as old clothes, toys, plant pots, and other items should be placed in a bag or box.
  • Larger items such as old bicycles, barbeque pits, and steel mounting poles for basketball backboards will also be accepted.
