We've seen it happen on Facebook several times: the "breaking" news announcing famous person so-and-so's death, when in fact the celebrity has been dead for a while. Well, another "shared" story is getting revived, and it could cause issues for those who don't open the link to see the date.

The headline (which, at this point during our flood recovery, causes many people to worry) reads "I-10 Shut Down From Baton Rouge To Lafayette After Gas Well Blows".  Can you imagine, with all the stuff going on right now, people are starting to share this OLD news story?

I don't know why someone would want to share this story again, other than to just cause confusion and strike fear into people's hearts!  Shame on whoever was the first to share this story this time around!

I am certain the the individual who shared this story had all the greatest intentions, but a little due diligence will save much heartache and trouble.

Please, check a few things before you share items on the internet:

  1. Is it true?  (I realize that the story shared above is true, but it doesn't pass the next 2 parameters!)
  2. Is it timely?
  3. Is it helpful?
  4. Is it kind?

Just something keep in mind before sharing.
