Broussard Chief of Police Brannon Decou has announced his pending retirement.

According to KATC TV3, Chief Decou submitted a letter of retirement (to be effective at the end of the day June 1, 2021) to the Louisiana Secretary of State's office, Broussard City Hall, and the Broussard Police Department.

As you recall, Chief Decou was on leave after a sexual assault investigation was opened as a result of accusations levied against him by a Broussard Police employee.

In the letter, according to KATC, Chief Decou noted his tenure (longer than any other chief in Broussard's history) and the low crime rates, considering Broussard's growth during his tenure.
