Black Marks on Baby Changing Station, Indiana Mom Warns Parents Everywhere

Baby changing stations are located in many public bathrooms from gas stations to department stores. These are literally on the wall shelves that fold down so that parents can have somewhere to change a baby when not at home. One Indiana mom is warning all parents about the black marks being found on many of these changing tables.

Baby changing stations are generally not the most sanitary places in the world in terms of germs and bacteria, but until now, changing a baby in a public bathroom didn't mean life or death for a child.

24-year-old Jessica Wayman's public service message warning parents of the hazards of using a changing station has now gone viral on Facebook. She wants parents to know what the black scuff marks are on baby changing stations and why they could mean life or death to a child.

Wayman claims these black marks are actually burned marks caused by the spoons drug addicts use to heat up drugs.

Many parents may not even notice the black marks. The marks would probably not be something a parent would think of as harmful to a baby as they don't appear to be a threat.

Addicts use these as tables while they shoot up. There could be residue from heroin/meth whatever, and other harmful bodily fluids. If someone doesn’t care about themselves, I can promise you, they aren’t thinking about your kids. Be cautious. -Jessica Wayman

One of the reasons this is so close to Wayman's heart is because she is a recovering drug addict and is now a mother herself. She knows all too well why drug addicts use the changing tables.

Drug users use baby changing tables as drug stations in big cities and small and not just in the U.S. When using a baby changing table, always check for black marks before using it to change your precious little one.
