(KLFY) The mother of the two teens involved in a bowling alley incident in Lafayette, where one of the teens was punched in the face by a Lafayette Police Officer in early September, says a GoFundMe account set up for her children is fake.

The fake GoFundMe account was set up in the teen's names and was allegedly attempting to raise $50,000 to cover legal bills for the family. The family asked that the GoFundMe account be deactivated. It's not known if there were any donations before the account was closed.

The names of the teens have been withheld. The unidentified 16-year-old male teen, who was punch in the face several times by a Lafayette Police Officer, has been charged with interfering with a police investigation, battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.

The fake GoFundMe account was allegedly set up by "Free The People". The mom says there are no fundraisers currently going on for her teens, so beware of any organization claiming to be raising funds for the family.
