Pop star Ed Sheeran revealed his first major acting role was in an upcoming movie about a man who wakes up one morning to discover he’s the only person who remembers the Beatles – and rises to fame by claiming their music as his own.

The currently untitled film was written by romantic comedy veteran Richard Curtis and directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle, and is expected to hit screens in September 2019. Shooting has been completed in various locations around England, including an east-coast beach where 5,000 extras were cast.

“I discover him and take him on tour,” Sheeran, who plays himself, told Associated Press. “Then he gets much, much bigger than me through doing stuff. Yeah, it’s very clever. I got to actually learn how to act. … This was like full days on set, like full 12-hour days.”

Sheeran noted that movie was shot "around loads of my gigs. So it was a very intense two months, because I would have four days of gigging and then three days of shooting a film.” He added that, though he didn’t want to become an actor, he’d like to make a movie “where songs dictate the film in a way.”

The Telegraph reported that British TV actor Himesh Patel plays the lead role, with appearances from Lily James, Kate McKinnon, Joel Fry and others. Unconfirmed reports suggest the movie could be called All You Need Is Love.
