[UPDATE: Thursday, August 16, 2018  ARETHA FRANKLIN HAS DIED.]

By now, I'm sure you've heard the news that Aretha Franklin is gravely ill. I've been thinking about her music this week. Did you know she didn't write most of her songs? . She did write "Think" which appeared in the "Blues Brothers" and was covered by more than thirty artists!

"(You Make Me Feel) Like a Natural Woman" is my favorite Aretha song of all-time. I first heard "...Natural Woman" sung by the songwriter, Carole King. As much as I love Carole, Aretha's version will always be the best in my book.

The video above is from the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors when Carole King was honored. Watch as Carole is blown away when Aretha sits down at the piano to sing the classic. Hard to believe how pure her tone is in this (and pretty much every other) rendition.
