You might have heard of 'Festivus' by now, either from watching the episode of Seinfeld from which it originated, from a friend, or perhaps from attending or hosting a Festivus celebration. The fictional holiday was created by George Constanza's father, Frank, and highlighted in the episode 'The Strike.' The true origin of Festivus has its roots in the upbringing of Seinfeld writer Dan O'Keefe.

Since the episode aired almost twenty years ago, Festivus has become an actual non-holiday holiday, celebrated as a fun excuse to gather friends and/or family and use the traditions of the Costanza family as part of the fun.
