Would you wait in line for 2 hours for a cookie?

Recently there has been a buzz on Social Media about a new bakery in town, called Caroline's Cookies. Driving by Caroline's shop I quickly realized that there was a cookie craze in town. The line flowed around the building all before she ever unlocked the doors for the day to begin.

So this past Saturday morning, I set my alarm earlier than I would have liked to make sure I got in line for a taste of these cookies. I arrived at Caroline’s Cookies at 9:15 am and waited until the store opened at 11 am. However, I wasn’t alone in line there were over 100 other people who were waiting in line with me. I was one of the lucky few who got a chance to purchase these amazing cookies… and they didn’t disappoint at all!

While I was waiting in line I learned a few things about the person behind Caroline’s Cookies. Caroline Merryman who is 19 years old, got the idea to open a storefront after her business took off on Instagram. Caroline has been baking since she was 8 years old but never really thought that anything would come out of it, baking was simply a way to relieve stress. However, during covid Caroline received ‘a baking cookies’ from scratch cookbook and spent weeks perfecting the recipe that she is currently using today.

Caroline started selling her cookies on Instagram by taking personal orders from friends and followers. After the demand started to grow she took her business a step further by going to the Farmer’s Market and to local pop-ups, where she always sold every cookie. It seems that the popularity of Caroline’s Cookies is still around since she sells out EVERY DAY that she is open.

This 19-year-old who made the tough decision in April to drop out of college to pursue her dreams of owning a bakery is living proof that you can do anything you set your mind to. Caroline is not only killing it when it comes to growing a business but she is an inspiration to so many who admire all of the hard work that she is putting into her new business.

While many still haven’t had a chance to taste these phenomenal cookies her hope is, that won’t be an issue one day. While Caroline loves the sight of a line outside of her business her new dream is to be able to be open from 11 am to 6 pm, as her sign says, and have people walk in at any time to grab a few of her delicious cookies.
