A Celebrity Mom’s Grief Helps to Prevent Childhood Drownings
In light of the horrible news yesterday about the drowning death of country star Granger Smith's 3 year old son, River, another celebrity mom is reaching out after the same thing happened to her family. A year ago this week, professional beach volleyball player and model Morgan Beck, who is married to Olympic and World Championship gold medalist Bode Miller, lost their daughter Emmeline to drowning. She was 19 months old.
Morgan has joined Nicole Hughes, the mother of 3 year old Levi Hughes, who drowned the exact same day as little Emmy, to get a campaign going to educate parents about the dangers of childhood drowning, and how it can be prevented. Levislegacy.com, along with the American Academy of Pediatrics, has printable resources, info about swim lessons, healthcare providers, and drowning prevention information. We are urging you to at least read it so that another family will not join in the grief that the Hughes, Miller, and now Smith family share. Morgan and Nicole tell their story in the video below. Sending so much love to these families today...

We are beyond devastated. Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this. Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to it’s fullest everyday. Our family respectfully requests privacy during this painful time.
