Sad news out of central Louisiana as the body of a person who was swimming in the Red River in Alexandria was recovered on Wednesday morning (August 2).
Around 4:30 pm on Saturday a captain with the Grand Isle Police Department said several agencies were searching for a man who didn't make it back to shore near Grand Isle Park.
The unidentified 49-year-old father drowned while attempting to rescue his 17-year-old son who was struggling in the gulf waters near Gulf State Park Pavilion.
Biloxi police told local media that a lifeguard was on duty. However, on Tuesday, Capt. Milton Houseman said it was actually pool attendants that were present at the time of the incident.
The body of a 57-year-old man was discovered with a winning lottery ticket in the victim's wallet after he died from drowning and his body washed ashore.
