Summer at branches of the Lafayette Public library means fun and learning for all ages. This summer's activities include yoga, art, and other educational classes as well as storytelling and creative opportunities.

Yoga for Adults

Certified yoga instructors lead your choice of Gentle Yoga or Chair Yoga (for those with limited mobility) in this series of free classes. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat if taking the Gentle Yoga class. Register at LafayettePublicLibrary.org for the 4-week session of your choice. Registration begins Monday, June 22 for July classes.

The Alexandre Mouton House/Lafayette Museum and the Lafayette Public Library present: The House that Sugarcane Built: The Louisiana Burguieres. Louisiana author and folklorist Donna McGee Onebane will discuss her book, which chronicles the rise of the Burguières family to the top of South Louisiana’s sugarcane industry. This event takes place at the Alexandre Mouton House/Lafayette Museum (located at 1122 Lafayette Street in downtown Lafayette). Doors open at 1:30 PM.

Zoo-Zoom: The Little Zoo on Wheels

Not just a petting zoo, Zoo-Zoom allows up-close views of both exotic and native Louisiana animals! Learn how to show respect and kindness to wallabies, snakes, rabbits, lizards and other animals. Sponsored by the Friends of the Lafayette Public Library. Ages 3 & up.
