Top 10 Events In Acadiana This Weekend
There’s always so much to do around Acadiana that sometimes it’s hard to figure out what you want to do with your weekend. That’s where the Weekend Top 10 comes in handy.
Check out the top ten events happening around Lafayette for this weekend.
Janet Jackson kicks off her State of the World Tour at the Cajundome on Thursday, September 8 at 8pm. Tickets at the Cajundome Box Office or Live Nation.
So this one is a 2-hour drive from Lafayette, but well worth the trek (to take another trek)!
Clark Creek Nature Area in Pond, Mississippi, offers a great "daycation". Pack & Paddle puts this hike together, so you know it's going to be a good one!
From their Facebook page:
This is the place that always astounds first-time visitors. Two hours from Lafayette and your senses are filled by the sights, sounds and fresh fragrances of trails carved into steep moss-covered ravines that lead you to, over, or under four waterfalls. If you are quiet and patient, you could see chipmunks, marbled salamanders, and possibly birds of prey, or wild turkey. A unique wilderness, civilized by the beautifully constructed staircases and observation decks, but still possessing miles of undeveloped stream-beds surrounded by towering ridges.
The Downtown Lafayette Artwalk is happening on September 9, from 6-9 PM.
Sola Violins is hosting Arco Music, a string trio playing a variety of songs.
Admission to Artwalk is free. Expect to walk and see art. And eat. And drink, if you are into that. If not, we won't judge.
Artwalk takes place the first Saturday of each month. Grab your friends and c'mon!
The Lydia Cancer Society is hosting the 14th Annual Cajun Food Fest & Fais Do-Do Friday, September 8 and Saturday, September 9 at Weeks Park in New Iberia.

Hunter sets sail again soon, this time on a 4-month hitch (his last gig was out of Austrailia!) So, as a going-away celebration, Hunter is debuting his CD: Daydreaming.
The CD release party will be held Friday, September 8 at the Feed-N-Seed venue, behind Grand Street Dancehall (it's got a great atmosphere, and the acoustics are good!).
The doors open at 8, and there will be plenty of Daydreaming CDs for you to pick up as Christmas gifts! (Admission is $10)
