Here in Louisiana, we love rice.  But does all rice taste the same?  Absolutely not.  I discovered that at a Christmas party a few years ago.

My friend Tye Hebert throws the greatest parties.  His parties are attended by people of all ages, from all walks of life, with great music and the most awesome food.  His family owns Southend Country Mart in Lafayette, so they know how to cook.

A few years ago, at one of his infamous Christmas parties, I had a bowl of gumbo.  It was delicious.  But I could tell it wasn't just the gumbo that was so tasty.  So I asked Tye what was the secret to this uniquely different, but awesome tasting gumbo.  He said, "It's the rice".

So I tasted the rice, alone, by itself.  It was ridiculously good.  Actually, the smell of the rice was just as unique as it's taste.  And the best part about my new favorite rice?  It's grown in Crowley!

UPDATE:

So after posting this original story on January 4, I walked into my office a few weeks later, early one Monday morning, only to find a very special package.  Take a look!
