The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office says the man accused of shooting a Grand Coteau police officer on New Year's Day is a suspect in a homicide case in another state.

According to KATC, the sheriff's office says Michael Lucas has an outstanding warrant for grand theft in Calhoun County, Florida, for allegedly stealing the car he was driving at the time he allegedly shot the Grand Coteau police officer.
