An arrest of a suspect has been made after officials with Louisiana State Police say they were called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting that happened Saturday night.

Trooper Thomas Gossen, spokesman for Louisiana Troop I, says they have arrested 30-year-old Michael Brumley of Scott for the incident that happened in that city this past weekend.

After being released from an area hospital Brumley was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on two counts of aggravated assault upon a peace officer.

More information has now been released concerning an officer-involved shooting that happened over the weekend.

Officials with Louisiana State Police say they were called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting that happened Saturday night at around 10 o'clock.

The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations continues to investigate a shooting that happened with an officer of the Scott Police Department.

The shooting happened in the 100 block of Angler Drive. According to Louisiana State Police Troop I, spokesman Trooper Thomas Gossen Scott Police Department officers were called out to the home about a domestic disturbance that was unfolding.

Gossen says the suspect that officers encountered was armed with a knife.

According to the investigators, one officer tried using a taser on the suspect, but it was ineffective. The other officer then used his service weapon and shot the suspect.

The person who was shot during this encounter was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment. The suspect did not have life-threatening injuries.

There were no officers harmed during this situation.

Gossen says this is still an active investigation.
