Healing House will host a community wide remembrance ceremony to commemorate National Children’s Grief Awareness Day on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 6:00pm at Parc Sans Souci in downtown Lafayette. We invite the community to come and show their support to the children in our lives that are dealing with the unimaginable loss of a loved one.

Let these children know that we are thinking of them during their journey by wearing blue, the color of Children’s Grief Awareness, and attending the ceremony on November 20. Healing House will also be hosting an open house for people in the community to learn more about children’s grief and the services provided by Healing House, Wednesday, November 19, 7:30am-9:30am at 707 Lee Avenue, downtown Lafayette.

National Children’s Grief Awareness Day is observed every year on the Thursday before Thanksgiving. Children’s Grief Awareness Day seeks to bring attention to the fact that often support can make all the difference in the life of a grieving child.

Before graduation from high school, one out of every 20 children will lose a parent. This number does not include those who experience the death of a brother or sister, a close grandparent, aunt or uncle, or a friend.
