My husband thinks Keith Urban is a great musician and performer. I do, too - plus he's easy on the eyes. When, at the last minute, we had an opportunity to go to the show, we jumped at the chance!

Dustin Lynch opened the show, apparently starting on or near the scheduled start time of 7 PM, despite a delay in getting the doors open. I enjoyed his performance of straightforward country music. His hit song, 'Cowboys and Angels' was a big hit with the crowd.

The surprise of the evening for me was Little Big Town. I knew they were good, but WHAT?! They were GREAT! Their four-part harmony, terrific musicianship and tight show blew me away! Of course they did 'Pontoon,' but my favorites last night were actually their stylized versions of Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain' and the Oak Ridge Boys'  'Elvira.' They mentioned that they'd enjoyed some shrimp and gumbo while they were here, a reference to singer Kimberly Chapman's filming of a segment for her GAC cooking show 'Kimberly's Simply Southern' with Granger's Seafood of Maurice, LA. They took her shrimping! How cool is that?!

Keith Urban was magnificent. That man puts on a great show. As a matter of fact, it's easy to get wrapped up in his good looks and charm and forget to appreciate his musical talent! To open the show, they didn't turn the lights down, the star just sauntered out on stage, picked up a banjo and started playing. The rest of the band then came out one by one and joined him. I loved that! My favorite part, though, was when the star brought out his giant hand-held spotlight and started reading the many signs fans were holding up all over the Cajundome. A hot pink sign that asked for a hug got his attention and he invited the woman up on stage. She got her hug and a a once in a lifetime experience!

The next big show to come to Lafayette is hometown favorite and CMA Best New Artist of 2012 award winner Hunter Hayes' two sold-out shows at the Heymann Center. Want to go? We have your chance to win tickets right here!
