128 years ago - In 1892, the First Official Basketball Game was played at a YMCA training school in Springfield, Massachusetts. During the game, players tossed a basketball into peach baskets.  The bottoms were not cut out so the game had to be stopped after someone made a basket.

68 years ago - In 1952, Patricia McCormick became the first Professional Female Bullfighter. She was from Texas. The competition was held in Mexico. She defeated two bulls.

59 years ago - In 1961, John F. Kennedy was sworn in as the 35th president of the United States.

39 years ago - In 1981, Ronald Reagan was sworn in as the 40th president of the United States.

38 years ago - In 1982, Ozzy Osbourne bit the head off a bat that some fan threw on stage during a concert in Des Moines, Iowa. Ozzy had to be hospitalized for rabies. As the story goes, Ozzy says he thought it was rubber.

34 years ago - In 1986, the United States observed the Martin Luther King, Jr. federal holiday for the first time!

31 years ago - In 1989, George Bush [The Elder] was sworn in as the 41st president of the United States.

30 years ago - In 1990, Roseanne married Tom Arnold. The two were married just four days after Roseanne divorced her first husband.  Roseanne and Tom lasted four years. 

27 years ago - In 1993, the amazing Audrey Hepburn died of colon cancer. She was 64.

27 years ago - In 1993, Billy Clinton was inaugurated as the 42nd U.S. president.

15 years ago - In 2005, George W. Bush was inaugurated for his 2nd term.

11 years ago - In 2009, Barack Obama was inaugurated as America's first black president.

8 years ago - In 2012, legendary singer Etta James died. Best known for her song "At Last".  She was 73.

3 years ago - In 2017, Donald Trump was inaugurated so he could Make America Great Again.
