Have you received a call from (337) 245-0053 recently?  I have received a call from this number for days and finally, today, their was someone on the other end of the line.

For the past two weeks, I've been receiving calls from a number that comes up as 'La, USA' on my cell phone.  On average, about every other day.  When I'd answer the call, there would be just silence, nothing.

Today for the first time, there was a human on the other end of the call.  And not a nice man either.  He says, 'I'm calling about service for your two thousand blah blah blah car".  I said, 'Why are you calling me'?  This time, he says, 'I'm calling about warranty information about your two thousand blah blah car.  Approximately how many miles do you have on your car...roughly'?  I responded, 'About ten thousand...My car is in warranty'.  In a very stern, almost agitated voice, her says, 'That's why I'm calling, your service warranty'.  I said, 'Who are you'?  That's when he abruptly hung up.

I called back the number and the recorded message states, 'Thank you for returning our call.  To remove yourself from the calling list press (the number is not audible).  Please call back during business hours'.

The FCC Consumer Center has had an increase in complaints concerning these type calls.  The calls are sometimes automated or pre-recorded.  The consumer is told that their automobile warranty is about to expire.

If you receive a suspicious call about the warranty on your car, the FCC says you should not provide any personal information, such as social security numbers, credit card information, driver’s license numbers, or bank account information to the caller.  You may also want to use the FCC’s online complaint form to report the call.
