The United States of America. That's kind of a misnomer, or maybe not. The term "state" usually refers to a country. Visiting heads of state, etc. On the other hand, the US does have 50 individual states, each with its own government, subject to federal laws. 24/7 Wallstreet recently ranked the 50 individual state governments in our country  from best to worst. You can probably guess, the Bayou State didn't come out looking too good. Dead last, as a matter of fact. It's not pretty. Louisiana has the 3rd highest unemployment rate, at 6.1%, a credit rating of Aa3/Negative. I'm not totally sure what that means, but the word negative is a clear sign. More than 1 in 5 Louisiana residents live below the poverty level, 2nd worst in the nation, and state tax revenues are among the nation's lowest. But, hey! We have the tallest capitol building. Wanna run for governor?
