Want To Clear Your Mind? Take A Hike!
No, seriously - if you want to take your mind off of things for a while, take a hike. Or ride a bike.
Or, if you have an issue that is weighing heavy on your heart, take a hike. Or ride a bike.
If you have an issue at home with your spouse, child, or another family member, take a hike. Or ride a bike.
A few things happen when you take a hike or ride a bike. I'm not a doctor, nor scientist, so I don't know the proper terminology for what happens to your brain when you take a hike or ride a bike, but it gives me time to cool off if I am about to say something I'm going to regret.
Taking a hike or riding a bike gives me time to think through life's problems, big and small. Will taking a hike or riding a bike solve EVERY problem? Well, I don't know, as I haven't gotten to every problem, yet.
When I take a break from the everyday, it gives my mind a chance to mull over things that are going on in my life, and it affords me the opportunity to mentally act out scenarios, which helps me make decisions.
One more thing: taking a hike or riding a bike or walking the dogs or taking the boat out for a little while all involve physical activity, which has been proven to improve your physical and mental health, so there's that.
So, I'm telling you now: GO TAKE A HIKE BEFORE YOU DO SOMETHING YOU'LL REGRET!!
