Lafayette's a great place for a weekend getaway, with wonderful bed & breakfasts, and some of America's best restaurants. The Hub City has been named the South's Tastiest Town by Southern Living Magazine. A boat tour of the Atchafalaya Basin is a memorable experience. There's the second Saturday Art Walk, a great live music scene, and the beauty of nearby Rip Van winkle gardens, not to mention the warmth of the people. I came to Lafayette for a visit...35 years ago.
