The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has received a great deal of recognition the past couple years, and that's paying off in a record number of students coming to the Hub City for their higher education. Enrollment at UL for the fall 2014 semester is nearly 19,000 students. This semester's reported total enrollment of 17, 796 is a 3% increase over last fall's total of 18,235.

UL President E. Joseph Savoie told The Advertiser, "I wasn't surprised. This was planned and worked for, but it also reflects the growing competitiveness of the university and the growing reputation of our academic programs."

The school's recent successes in competitive sports have certainly served to enhance its reputation as well. The community also reaps the benefit of nearly 19,000 students participating in the local economy.
