Two Lafayette Parish Correctional Deputies Arrested
Two deputies from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office Corrections department have been arrested after accusations that they were involved with contraband in the jail.
Sheriff Mark Garber says, "The safety and well-being of our staff and the offenders housed in our correctional facilities is vital. We will not tolerate anything that jeopardizes that security."
Department spokeswoman Valerie Ponseti says that 57-year-old Dennis Brasseaux and 46-year-old John Gradnigo are both facing multiple charges.
She says there was a recent investigation into how contraband was getting into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
They accusations include the introduction of drugs and other items in Lafayette's jail.
More arrests are expected in connection with this case, and officials are still investigating.
