(Iberia Parish) - Some sad news to share out of Iberia Parish, two people were killed in a crash at Rip Van Winkle Road.

According to KLFY News 10, deputies responded to a crash at Rip Van Winkle Road and Highway 675 after a 2012 Nissan Cube reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a truck traveling along the highway.

At this time, it is unknown as to why the Nisaan failed to stop at the stop sign as it approached the highway.

Sadly, Donald P. Gremillion, 69, of Abbeville, along with the passenger in the car, Gerrilynn Gremillion, 69, also of Abbeville, were pronounced dead at the scene.

As for those in the F150 truck, they were not injured in the crash. The deadly crash remains under investigation.

The news outlet reports that toxicology samples were obtained from the driver of the Nissan and submitted for analysis.  The driver of the Ford truck submitted to a breathalyzer test, and the results were negative.
