Tulane’s Inflatable Practice Facility Goes Up in New Orleans
(New Orleans, Louisiana) - The Tulane Green Wave football team will soon have a new practice facility, and it comes in the form of an inflatable "dome."
Yes, there will be a new "dome" soon in New Orleans, and this facility is located in the Uptown portion of New Orleans. Soon, the Green Wave will have a facility that allows them to escape the outdoor elements, and this facility is held up by air.
The structure isn't the entire length of a football field, but it's close, and it will even feature a field goal, allowing kickers to practice in this giant bubble off Claiborne Street. According to a report on X, this facility is expected to cost $7-8 million.
While this may look odd to some, a few NFL teams have had these around for years. I can recall seeing similar structures in Houston and Arizona.
Some on social media seem to like the new structure in the Crescent City, while others say it's an eyesore for the neighborhood it is in.
Here are a few videos taken by those driving past the new Tulane Green Wave facility, which is expected to be ready within the next month.
Kaare Johnson shared a video of the Tulane practice facility, offering a look inside the structure. And yes, when storms approach, the facility that you see here can be deflated to prevent damage to it or other surrounding properties.
