Red Wine should be served at room temperature, and white should be cold, right? Wrong! Deb Hatcher of A to Z Wineworks says that's a widely held misconception. According to Hatcher, most people serve their red wine at too high a temperature & their white, too cold. She told the Business Insider red wine should be chilled for about 30 minutes before serving. This is because the flavor components can evaporate, causing the wine to become less tasty. She also asserts white wine shouldn't be chilled below 55 degrees, because it masks the complexity. She compares it to trying to ice skate with numb feet. Maybe I'll just stick to vodka on the rocks, or beer from a tub of ice water.
