(WWLTV) Things are bad in New Orleans. According to Cindi Richardson, she called 911 and after no response, the 911 operator said her emergency was "pending" and that no ambulances were available for her area.

Richardson, who lives in Bywater, called 911 during her husband's recent heart attack, but no one came.

The woman says she called 911 five times in a total of 90 minutes. She says all the 911 operator would tell her is that the situation was "pending" and that there were "no ambulances available". Her son ended up driving to the nearest fire station for help.

Fire was available, EMS was available and the hospital was available, so the people who could help this person in distress, they were on deck ready to help. OPCD was the connective tissue that was missing and fell flat on their face in this instance. -Councilmember at large, JP Morrell to WWLTV

The councilmember also told WWLTV that situations like this "don't help to build trust with the community".

People in New Orleans are outraged.
