According to Shane Bernard's story in the Bayou Teche Dispatch, Jimi Hendrix appeared live on KLFY in 1965, and we are just finding out about it now.

Back in the 1960s, musician/DJ Rod Bernard (Shane's father) hosted an "American Bandstand" - type program on KLFY TV10. Bernard was able to get Little Richard to agree to an appearance (the timing worked out great, as Richard was routing through the area), and Little Richard brought his "posse", made up mostly of his band members.

A photograph was taken during Richard's performance that night and, somehow, Cecil Doyle (local public radio host) found a copy and posted it to his Facebook page (back in 2010). When Shane Bernard shared the photo to his Facebook page, it caught the attention of another Facebook user who was able to put 2 and 2 together. He reached out to Bernard and asked if it was possible that the man on the left, in the Queen's Guard cap, could be Jimi Hendrix, as he was in Richard's band around that time.

Well, math is math, and 2+2=4: Jimi Hendrix performed in Lafayette, Louisiana in 1965, and appeared live on KLFY TV10.

The story, as told by Shane Bernard in the Bayou Teche Dispatch, is quite interesting, and can be found in its entirety here!
