Taylor Swift has finally earned legal justice in her lawsuit against former radio DJ David Mueller. She had reportedly filed the countersuit to Mueller's allegation of defamation on principal, and after seven days on trial, the judge decided to throw out Mueller's case and the jury ruled that Mueller did in fact sexually assault the singer when he groped her butt during a meet-and-greet after her Denver concert in 2013.

Swift was awarded the damages she had asked for, a grand total of $1. Upon hearing the verdict, she hugged her mother and attorneys. Tears of joy fell from her mother's eyes.

Mueller had originally filed his suit against the star to accuse her of costing him his job through allegations she had spread. The judge threw out Mueller's suit on the ground that he did not prove she directly lost him the position.

In a statement given to People, Swift said offered gratitude and support to other assault victims.

“I want to thank Judge William J. Martinez and the jury for their careful consideration, my attorneys Doug Baldridge, Danielle Foley, Jay Schaudies and Katie Wright for fighting for me and anyone who feels silenced by a sexual assault, and especially anyone who offered their support throughout this four-year ordeal and two-year long trial process,” Swift said. “I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”

Swift had remained cool and collected during the trial, landing lots of praise from fans for her refusal to take any blame or let Mueller's attorneys speak down to her. The defamation lawsuit filed by Mueller against Swift's mother, however, remains ongoing.
