I even found a couple of "Cajun" movies that are...pretty odd but entertaining in unintentional, and hilarious ways.

Our local talent, crazy man Travis Matte, has a new song called 'Bye Felicia'. The man who gave us 'Vibrator', heard at every club and wedding reception in Acadiana, gives us another song that may end up being just as popular.

Sean Ardoin and Zydecool have done a version of Pharrell Williams' hit song from the movie 'Despicable Me 2.'

South Louisiana is a place where "music grows up from the ground" (to borrow a phrase). Terrance Simien is a great example. The St. Landry Parish native has been immersed in music since childhood, first learning to play piano, later trumpet & accordion.

In his acceptance speech, Simien thanked the Recording Academy for the honor and for bestowing a Lifetime Achievement Award to the late Clifton Chenier.

Prejean was an influential figure on the Zydeco music scene, fronting several local bands. He also worked as a sideman for "Little Bob" Camille, and played trumpet for Warren Caesar. He most recently worked as accordionist and lead singer of the Creole Zydeco Farmers.

The Louisiana Office of Tourism and Oxford American Magazine present 'Cajun Seasoning: Zydeco Rhythms in the Heart of Acadiana' April 20. It's part of a series of Louisiana Soundtrack Experience events being held throughout the state this year...

While we were recovering from Festival International and Jazz Fest here at home, folks in California were celebrating our culture on Harbor Island in San Diego Bay. The Louisiana Office of Tourism sponsored 'Gator by the Bay' which featured music and food from the Bayou State and Lafayette - they even gave away a trip to Louisiana! Bands included and Grammy Award winning Chubby Carrier and the Bay

Louisiana music hits the mainstream of popular culture again! Grammy award winning Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience are featured  in Warner Brothers' "The Lucky One", starring Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling and Blythe Danner.

Geno Delafose and French Rockin' Boogie will be playing at St. Theresa Holy Family Life Center in Abbeville Saturday, March 31st.  All proceeds from the event benefit the American Cancer Society.
