Don't spend money on plants that won't survive a south Louisiana winter. There are flowering plants that will be just fine through the winter and even into next spring, you just have to know what to buy.

This Acadiana winter was vicious and hit plants hard, especially outdoor palms.  Driving around one can find dead palms, both small and large, in yards all over our area.  But are they really dead?

It's not like I've had all of them in the Acadiana area, but I believe I know good breasts when I taste them.

Winter will officially be here on Dec. 21, but it came a little earlier this year, weather-wise. Winter might be bitter and miserably cold, but it's also a time for being fashionably bundled up.
