After closing earlier this morning (04/13/22) due to an overturned tanker reportedly carrying hazardous materials, I-10 eastbound at I-49 has re-opened.
State Police Troop A TFC Taylor J. Scrantz said Lt. Todd Alcorn of the Lafayette Police Department was involved in a two-car crash around 7:00 am Sunday at mile marker 132, about five miles east of Whiskey Bay.
There is no more information at this time on whether the bridge will be immediately reopening after the accident is cleared up due to the fire and spillage.
The I-10 Widening Project continues over the next two nights as the project focuses on widening a key stretch involving the border parishes of Lafayette and St. Martin Parishes.
