About 30 St. Martin Parish students started their first day of classes by going online at home on Monday.

The program is designed to help students catch up and graduate on time or, in some cases, ahead of schedule.  The online school enables students to retake a failed course, take electives not offered at their school, or  advance ahead of the traditional school schedule.

"We have a few that are credit recovery. We have a few who would prefer online. Some have health issues and it's easier for them to go to school at home. And we have those that want to get ahead and graduate early."   - Noelle Prados, online teacher

Students are required to take tests on-site at either the Virtual School campus or their respective zoned school.   They're eligible to participate in their zoned schools' extra-curricular activities.
