The Hubble Telescope was launched in April,1990. The space telescope's early history was beset with problems. A 1983 launch was originally proposed. Technical and budget problems, and the Challenger disaster delayed the project. Hubble's optics were discovered to be defective in the early '90s. A shuttle mission corrected the issue, and awe inspiring images have been transmitted back to Earth over the years.
