Sophia McCarthy Of Lafayette Was Part Of The CMA Audience

Sophia McCarthy of Lafayette was part of the CMA audience and she was up close and personal with some of the celebs. Her mom, Lori McCarthy, shared the story with me. Sophia is part of an audience company in Tennessee where the selection process isn't easy. First off, you have to be chosen to attend certain events throughout the year to even have the opportunity to be selected for the CMA audience. Last year, Sophia attended the CMA's but was assigned to the mosh, which is the area in front of the stage where people are standing around the entertainers. Obviously, this year was so much cooler because she sat next to Pink and her kids. Lori said that Pink's son kept trying to introduce Sophia to his mom and dad.

They aren't supposed to talk to the celebrities, so Sophia was playing it cool and then Pink just started talking to her about her son and how he is so friendly to everyone. I mean, how cool is that?

After sitting by Pink for a while, they moved her to sit near Dierks Bentley's wife. She started a conversation with Sophia asking about her schooling and songwriting. Sophia said it was so hard to not just have a normal conversation because they were so down to earth.

Finally, they moved Sophia where she stayed the rest of the show which was behind Maren Morris who won "Album of the Year". And she was in front of Luke Combs who won "Male Vocalist of the Year". I'm sure her excitement of seeing their reaction right in front of her eyes had to be a huge rush. And imagine what it felt like for Sophia knowing the camera was directly on her! Her mom, Lori, took lots of photos of her television screen and shared them on her Facebook page.

Sophia told her mom that everyone was so nice. She said Kacey Musgraves was playing around with Pink’s kids during the breaks and all the country stars were friendly with each other. It's really cool to hear that because all we can do is wonder what it must be like at these awards shows while the celebrities and their families are sitting in the audience.

Lori told me that Sophia was recently invited to attend an event for a special called "Brad Paisley Thinks He's Special". It airs on December 3rd on ABC. The part she is in, Brad Paisley is singing with Hootie and the Blowfish. She said they sang the song like 13 times! She is in the back of the stage directly to the right of Darius Rucker.

Lori is very proud of her daughter. She said she is having a blast in Nashville. She is a Sophomore at Middle Tennessee State University majoring in Recording Industry Management: Commercial Songwriter and is a singer/songwriter. She writes pop music and she just recorded 8 songs. They'll be releasing some of them before the end of the year.
