There's good news and bad news when it comes to the weather forecast for this week. The bad news is that much of Acadiana will be dealing with strong and possibly severe storms on Thursday. The good news? Most of the inclement weather should exit the area by Friday giving us another fabulous weekend.

Forecasters with Storm Prediction Center are monitoring a storm system this morning that could bring heavy downpours, damaging winds, and the threat of tornadoes to the area by late in the week.

The approaching storm system is expected to kick off strong storms in West Texas today. That system will push that unsettled weather to the east across Central and East Texas tomorrow.

By Thursday, the main weather maker should be in the Acadiana area by the early morning hours of Thursday and if all goes according to the forecast the stormy weather should exit the region late in the day. That should hopefully provide a window of improving weather for activities associated with Festival International in downtown Lafayette that evening.
