Seven Treats Santa Wants Louisiana Parents to Leave Out
Santa Claus is coming to Louisiana and when he arrives he'll be expecting treats on Christmas Eve.
Traditionally we've left behind cookies and milk for Santa, but now Santa wants a few other South Louisiana treats and I don't blame him.
So, rather than leaving the cookies and milk out on Christmas Eve, let's take a look at seven other "treats" you and the kids can leave out for Santa this year.
I don't think Santa would mind if you left out the following on your coffee table or snack bar this year.
Deboned Chicken
Let's start with a deboned chicken from Hebert's Specialty Meats. This is the easiest meal to prep and some good protein may be what Santa needs on a very busy night. If you leave this out, I have a good feeling leftovers could end up at the North Pole.
Red Beans and Rice
This is one of the best-known Southern dishes, but you can't too much out for Santa. If Santa consumes too much of your Red Beans and Rice he may be asleep on your living room floor when the family wakes up, and we don't want that to happen.
Gator Bites
This could be another perfect small meal to leave out for Santa on Christmas Eve. The gator bites from Prejean's in Carencro are so good, and I bet Santa would appreciate a few small bites left out.
Cracklins
Pork or Chicken Cracklins from The Best Stop would be a HIT for Santa on Christmas Eve. The only suggestion here is to leave Santa something to drink with this one treat. You'd hate for him to start coughing if the seasoning tickles his throat.
Boudin
Another Southern favorite is Boudin. A few small links of seasoned Boudin left for Santa would be greatly appreciated. Again, just make sure Santa has something to drink with this delicious treat on Christmas Eve. If you want to get fancy, leave a dipping sauce out with this one too.
Gumbo
Like with the Red Beans and Rice, you can't leave too much of this favorite out for Santa. However, a small cup of gumbo, with or without potato salad, may just be what Santa needs on Christmas Eve. Of course, no tomatoes in this Southern delicacy.
Deer Backstrap
Now this one gets tricky because Santa relies on deer to get him across the globe, but fried backstrap would be greatly appreciated. This is a favorite amongst so many in Louisiana, however, we just can't let Santa's helpers on Christmas Eve know about this treat left behind.
