With heavy rain in the forecast this weekend, some cities are now offering their citizens sandbags.

Lafayette Parish: In Broussard behind City Hall next to the Community Center & in Deer Meadow

Lafayette Parish Residents wishing to sandbag their property may access sandbags at these locations:

North District sandbagging is at the compost facility, located at 400 N Dugas Road (located off North University Ave.)

South District sandbags will be available at 1017 Fortune Road in Youngsville.

Southside Library located at 6101 Johnston St.(temporary, emergency location).

Blackham Coliseum, located at 2330 Johnston St. (temporary, emergency location)

Sandbags will be available throughout the weekend in Lafayette Parish during daytime hours.  These sites are "self-bagging," meaning the bags and sand are provided to Lafayette Parish residents free, at no charge, but residents will need to supply their own manpower and shovel.

Residents are asked to limit their sandbags to four bags per exterior door, with a maximum of 20 sandbags per household

In New Iberia, citizens can get bags at the city facility at 907 Fulton Street. The sandbags can be picked up from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. today.

City officials are asking residents to enter the sandbagging facility from the North Street side.

The Vermilion Parish Police Jury is providing sand, bags and shovels for the residents of Vermilion Parish in preparation for heavy rains and possible flooding. Sand and bags can be picked up at the following locations:

The City of Scott will be giving out sandbags ONLY TO SCOTT RESIDENTS.  Residents must show I.D. proving they are in the corporate limits of Scott not the Parish. Sandbags can be picked up at The City Maintenance Building at 118 Lions Club Road Scott, LA 70583.  Limit is 3 bags per door.

St. Landry Parish

Residents may pick up 10-12 sandbags at the Yambilee building on Hwy 190. Bags are there at the site but It is a fill your own bag.
