A former LSU safety inked a free agent deal with the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

To make room on the roster, the Saints waived injured offensive lineman John Fullington.

In his four seasons at LSU, the 6-foot, 205-pound Jefferson totaled 88 career tackles and four interceptions.

A native of New Orleans, Jefferson signed a reserve/futures contract with the Saints in January, prior to being cut after the team's rookie minicamp in May.

The 27-year old Fullington, who played his college football at Washington St., was on the Saints' active roster for one game last season, after being on the team's practice squad for all of the 2016 campaign.

The Saints also released undrafted wide receivers Josh Smith and Eldridge Massington from injured reserve after negotiating injury settlements with the two players.
