Call it a case of wishful thinking. Call it a case of hopeful thinking for those who have been affected by Hurricane Laura. Call it a cool front, if you want to. But the bottom line is this, by this time next week temperatures in Acadiana could be at least a little bit cooler and the air a lot less humid.

According to the Climate Prediction Center's 6 to 10 Day Outlook, there is about a 50% probability that temperatures across South Louisiana will be cooler. This as a result of a late summer cold front.

KATC's Daniel Phillips mentioned the front on Monday's broadcast of Good Morning Acadiana but Daniel has to be a scientist and stick with the facts. He can't be giddy like you and me when it comes to the prospect of cooler weather.

However, what Daniel did say makes sense, we often see "cold fronts" show up in long-range forecasts but they tend to fizzle out over time, especially this time of year. So, don't be surprised if we aren't surprised by a dip in the temperatures next week.

I personally am hoping this system will not only push into Acadiana but through Acadiana. Maybe this could be the beginning of a not-so-active time in the tropics if we can start to cool off.

Now, I don't want to get your hopes up because even if we do get a frontal passage the temperatures will only cool down by a few degrees. But, the humidity will be down a little bit too, making it feel even more comfortable.
