The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns will apparently have a new defensive coordinator for the 2020 college football season.

Ron Roberts, who served as defensive coordinator on Billy Napier's staff for the past two seasons, is leaving the program to become the new defensive coordinator at Baylor.

Roberts will serve as defensive coordinator under Dave Aranda, who left LSU last week to become the new head coach at Baylor.

Louisiana will reportedly promote safeties coach Patrick Toney to defensive coordinator and will also hire Georgia defensive analyst to coach linebackers.

The 52-year old Roberts has coached at the high school, Division II and FCS level.

His stint at UL was his first FBS coaching job.

Roberts began his coaching career at Houston High School in Tennessee (1990), before serving as head coach of Burroughs High School in California from 1994-1996.

In 1997, he began his first college coaching gig, serving as DC at Greensboro College in North Carolina, before heading to Tusculum College in the same role for the next 5 years.

He then moved to Texas State to serve as DC in 2003. (Texas State, now a member of the Sun Belt, was an FCS program at the time)

Following one season in San Marcos, Roberts went back to the high school ranks, working as head coach of Mt. Whitney High School in California for a season, then moved to Delta State where he'd spend the next two years as defensive coordinator, before serving as head coach of the Statesmen from 2007-2011, reaching the NCAA Division II Championship Game in 2010.

Roberts served as head coach at Southeastern Louisiana from 2012-2017, compiling an overall record of 89-45.
