I'm a longtime Eric Clapton fan. The band that catapulted him to international stardom was Cream. The first time I heard "Sunshine of Your Love" I was blown away. The song went top 5 on Billboard's chart.

Cream was comprised of Clapton, bassist Jack Bruce, and Peter "Ginger" Baker on drums. Baker was a seasoned veteran, credited with pioneering the Jazz Fusion genre.

After Cream disbanded, Baker, Clapton, Steve Winwood & Rick Grech formed Blind Faith. The band received widespread critical acclaim but was short-lived. The next career step was Ginger Baker's Air Force. He went on to produce a sizable body of jazz & African influenced music.

Baker would briefly reunite with Clapton & Bruce in 2005 for several Cream reunion concerts at London's Royal Albert Hall and Madison Square Garden in New York.

Ginger passed away Sunday, October 6th in an English hospital. He was 80.
