The New Orleans Saints' special teams play this season has been disastrous. The return game is last in the league. Rookie kicker Wil Lutz has had 5 kicks blocked or deflected. Those miscues have been costly. The New York Giants returned a blocked kick for a touchdown in a game where the defense held the Giants offense without a touchdown. The Broncos blocked a potential game winning extra point and returned it for a 2 point conversion, handing the Saints a crushing defeat. Four days later, Carolina executed a nearly identical play for a touchdown that was negated by a penalty. The Panthers scored on a subsequent play. Fans are calling for special teams coach Greg McMahon's head. The Times Picayune reports, the Saints will add an additional special teams coach. That person has yet to be named. As you may, recall, Dennis Allen was added as a defensive Assistant before Rob Ryan was dismissed. Are McMahon's days numbered? It looks that way to me.
