(99.9 KTDY) - The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office is a law enforcement agency just like any other; they protect and serve the community. If a pregnant mother needs aid, a deputy will, of course, help.

It was just another busy day for Deputy John Dugas, but he probably didn't think that he was going to have the encounter he had with a very pregnant mama.

That's right. Deputy Dugas was called out to the 3rd district after a very pronounced mother was found walking down Lake Ramsey Road, according to a post on the agency's Facebook page. We called to make sure this was legit, and it is. The rescue of this mother was real.

The mother in question is a very pregnant mini horse who was taking a stroll away from home!

How a Pregnant Mini Horse Got Loose

When the little horse was found, it was imperative to find out who owned this beautiful creature so she could go home and give birth. They started investigating. A very nice neighbor stepped up and offered to shelter the animal for the night.

The next day, deputies set out again to figure out who the owner is, and the whole time, they did not know the owners were looking for their sweet pregnant mini horse.

What the owners explained to the deputies was that there was apparently a section of the fence that they had found that allowed the horse to get out.

Cheyenne, the mini-horse, is now back home, and her mom and dad have repaired the fence.

It's a wonderful ending to a sweet story about the adventures of Cheyenne, the pregnant mini-horse!

And we agree with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office Facebook page: "We’ll be waiting on baby pictures."
