(KTDY) - One of America's longest-running beer brands is being phased out, and perhaps it's time for one last call.

Some beer brands seem to always coincide with America, and one beer brand that seems to be part of the American "culture" is Schlitz.

Chances are, if you're an adult, you've had a few sips of this beer from back in the day at clubs like the Keg or the Purple Peacock in Eunice. There was a time when young adults seemed to have sampled Schlitz at some dive bars or clubs, but sadly, those days are in the rearview.

We hate to break the news to some, but the final batch of Schiltz is being produced, and it won't be available in stores or bars soon.

Founder of the Schlitz Beer Brand

Founded in 1849 in Milwaukee, Schlitz Brewing Company has been part of beer drinkers' lives for generations, and sadly, it's all soon coming to an end.

Pabst owns the brand now, and they ceased brewing it months ago. The final batches are now being served, and when they go "dry," a piece of American culture will fade away.

Wisconsin Brewing Company wanted to give Schlitz a proper send-off, so it obtained Pabst's permission to brew the beer one last time. Well, the time has come, and the final batch of Schlitz will be brewed in a few days, and once it's gone, it will be gone forever.

Why Schlitz Beer Is Being Phased Out

Pabst Brewing Company has elected not to brew the historic beer brand anymore due to low demand. ABC7 in Chicago reports that Schlitz pulled in only $900,000 in sales over a recent one-year span.

Schlitz had a good run for 177 years, but its time has come, and it almost feels like we are losing a part of American history, for beer drinkers at least.

A report from KHOU suggested that younger generations of beer drinkers never truly adopted the Schlitz Beer brand, and with fewer young people drinking these days, it's no surprise to some in the brewing industry to see this iconic brand fade away.

Schlitz Beer had a nice run, and I am sure the hangovers still linger for some who may have overindulged in this beer.

Five Most Germ Infested Items in Louisiana Homes

Many here in Acadiana have started their "Spring Cleaning" or soon will, but do you know which items in your home are most infected with germs and viruses?

A few days ago, we started "Spring Cleaning" in our house, and while we were wiping down the baseboards, doors, and floors, I looked up which items in homes contain the most germs, and I was shocked.

So, I thought I'd highlight what I found so you can make sure you clean these things in your home as you begin your annual cleaning. According to Healthline, these five spots in your home contain the most germs.
