‘Pink Slime’ Now Labeled as Ground Beef by USDA
The USDA announced recently that the product once called 'pink slime' is being reclassified as ground beef. The is a product that has been used as a filler in the past and caused a lot of controversies when it came out some schools and fast food restaurants were serving it. Now it'll be considered the same as any other ground beef you buy in stores.
Chances are that you've probably eaten this product for years without knowing but in the past it was used as a filler. Pink Slime is made up of leftover beef products that have been freeze-dried into blocks before being added back into ground beef by processors. The company that produces the pink slime says that it tastes the same as regular ground beef... Now it's all considered the same.
